Lovely Links

I have found some lovely inspiration this week, here are some things that have caught my eye

A newly discovered Aussie blogger Sew Amy Sew and her wonderful version of the Grainline Archer Shirt. I love the contrast green buttons with the fuschia background.

Found these cute Polymer Clay earrings on Made It by Just Dot. So simple yet so beautiful.

One of my go to blogs for fashion advice is Elisha Casagrande. Her post about Principles & Elements of design is not only great advice for stylish dressing but also useful for making my handmade wardrobe a little more flattering and functional.

Take a look at this video on You Tube about how women perceive themselves compared to how others see us.

Some Lovely Links

Whew it's so freakin hot in Brissy this weekend! Makes me realise how many more light summer tops I need, lucky I have one on the go at the moment cant wait to get it finished.

In the meantime, here are some Lovely Links that have kept me occupied on Pinterest this week.

I love this Tutorial on Cotton & Curls about tailoring a thrifted  blazer. They are always too boxy on me.

I am so in love with these pink sandals from Seed Heritage, such a great way to add some color to a otherwise neutral outfit.

I have my eye on this lovely Silk Twill fabric from Tessuti, I think it would look fantastic as a Tiny Pocket Tank and I have a gift voucher to spend with them. Bonus!

I usually get totally stumped about what to wear in this heat. I found this cute outfit on Pinterest, I am hoping to put my own version of this together real soon.

I've found a fabulous Aussie Blog called Slow Your Home. This post on Pursuing Your Passion really struck a chord with me as I'm contemplating a change in direction for my career. Such a great blog.

Hope you're not melting away like I am, nothing like the hot weather to get my sewing creativity firing!

Till next time.

I love this Peplum Top Tutorial by Scared Stitchless, I am planning a green version I just need to find the right fabric.

I found this awesome wall art via Pinterest, just a matter of taking some cool nature shots and compile them onto some canvas.

I love this combo of Red Pants and Navy Polka Dots. I think the top would be fairly easy to make, this one is going on my to do list.

Some Lovely Links

Wow time goes so fast and you feel like you've done nothing. Last week I madly started drafting and then sewing a dress using a stripe merino knit from my last post, it was a disaster which really bummed me out. I got so frustrated with it that I bundled the lot into a plastic bag and threw it in my sewing wardrobe so I didn't have to look at it anymore. Perhaps when I have a free weekend I might try to salvage it, or maybe not.

So to lift my spirits I went on the hunt for some other people's creativity and inspiration. It's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Sydney at the moment and I spotted the runway show and collection by Project Runway Season 3 Winner Dylan Copper. I love his use of colors and prints, so gorgeous!

I'm totally digging on Little Betty's version on the Darling Ranges dress by Megan Neilsen patterns. My first pattern from her got lost in the mail, now I've happily got a replacement so I think this is going to be next on the list.

One of my new fav blogs is She's Sonic. She's put up a post talking about Leopard print as a neutral. I'm a sucker for leopard print, especially as accents such as scarves or shoes.

Cotton and Curls never fails to impress with DIY ideas and tutorials. She's posted up a tutorial about making a Knit dress with a Peter Pan collar. Looks pretty simple, though I think I would ditch the hi-lo hem going on, my legs are not made for showing that much skin!

I was so excited to see a new blog post from Pattern Runway. She is a Brissie pattern designer selling her pattern through her Etsy shop (just quietly I am seriously considering her Pussy Bow blouse). Her latest blog post was all about a Tailored Jacket she has just finished. Absolute perfection! I might get to that skill level in about 10 years more of sewing.

I finally succumbed and joined Pinterest, I could easily loose hours on there. You can check out my boards here.

Till next time!

Some Lovely Links

Here's some links that have caught my eye this week, probably when I was supposed to be doing something more productive. Hope you enjoy them.

I am so in love with this Thread Wrapped Necklace tutorial from Studs & Pearls. Isn't it cute!

Here a great tutorial for Bleach Painting on Fabric from A Beautiful Mess, I think this would be a great idea to personalise a tote bag for a pressie.

I love playing around with different colors for my nails, spotted this idea for a DIY mani on Drop Dead Gorgeous. What a cool way to spice up an outfit.

Fellow Aussie Blogger - Scared Stitchless - has many great things on her blog. She posted a few weeks back about Fabric Sharpies to decorate fabric. I love what's she's doing to decorate the tank. I think I need some of these now.

I've seen this getting around Pinterest for a while so I just has to share it on here. What a great idea to graffiti a wall with moss!

Till next time!

Some Lovely Links

I get easily bummed out with not being able to sew on a regular basis. I can usually only get to it once a weekend because of something called "Work" that gets in the way in between weekends. So therefore I satisfy my creative desires by browsing other people's blogs for ideas and inspiration. Here are some of the Lovely Links that have captured my imagination this week:

I'm totally digging this tutorial over on Stripes and Sequins for a Fringed Necklace. I think it will be a great way to inject some color into a potential drab winter wardrobe.

Another blog I love to read is Chasing Cait, she works as a Personal Stylist and I love how she gives advice on Fashion but not at exorbitant prices. Here's her advice on researching trends, this one about Loafers which I am coveting for the cooler weather.

How's this for cool! A hand stamped Pony Print Dress from A Beautiful Mess. Check out the tutorials while you're over there, seriously drool worthy stuff.

Such a shame I hadnt seen this tutorial earlier over on Cotton and Curls. This pintuck top would have been super cute for a summer top, oh well maybe it can be a winter top too?

One of my new fav Aussie sewing bloggers - Little Betty - sewed up this awesome dress in a lovely Liberty fabric. Might have to get this pattern and stash it away for next Summer!

Till next time!
